Students Return to School on August 22, 2018
Summer Reading Initiative (K-2)
We would like to wish everyone a safe and exciting summer break and look forward to seeing all of our students return to school on August 22nd. It is very important that students consistently spend time reading over the summer break so they can continue to use the literacy skills learned during the school year. To help encourage students to read, we have created a summer reading program each year.
This year, students are encouraged to read a minimum of 250 minutes and complete a reading log. As part of the “Dragon Reading Adventure”, students are encouraged to explore adventures around our community by visiting local sites for entertainment, education, treats, and recreation. A sample list of local adventure sites are listed on the summer reading log and students can cut out and paste a token on the reading log for each completed adventure. Students can return the reading log next school year for special recognition and prizes. Each student has been given a reading log with information on the summer program but you can also download the reading log below if you misplace it over the summer.
Students moving to Linntown next year will participate in the Linntown reading program. Thank you for your continued support and enjoy your summer adventures.

Kelly Elementary School houses kindergarten through third grade. The building has approximately 610 students and 51 professional educators. It offers a child centered learning program that builds a solid foundation of reading and math skills for all students. Class sizes are typically 20 or less to maximize learning experiences in these formative years. Both Kelly and Linntown feature certified teachers in the areas of art, music, library, and physical education.
The Lewisburg Area School District is accepting registrations for upcoming kindergarteners that will be five years of age on or before September 1. Information packets will be mailed to local residents with children believed to be of kindergarten age. Please call the Kelly Elementary School office at (570) 522-3292 to confirm that your child’s name and address are on our mailing list for next year’s kindergarten. You will receive two mailings for kindergarten registration: one in the beginning of February and one in the middle of March. Kindergarten registration will be held, by appointment only, on April 3, 4, and 5, 2018.
