Over 200 students from 18 school districts gathered at Danville Area High School for the Community Giving Foundation’s Youth in Philanthropy (YIP) year-end celebration, marking the culmination of a year spent learning about and addressing local community needs. Each student group was tasked with distributing $5,000 in donor-funded grants, collectively allocating $90,000 to 103 nonprofit projects focused on issues like hunger, mental health, and poverty. The event highlighted students’ thoughtful decision-making and growth as civic-minded leaders, with speakers emphasizing the transformative power of youth engagement in philanthropy. Now in its 21st year, YIP has contributed over $700,000 to the region since its inception.
