Dear Members of the Lewisburg Area School District Community,
I am proud and honored to be the superintendent of schools in the Lewisburg Area School District. As a new member of the Lewisburg community, I am committed to ensuring that all students have a safe learning environment, access to the services that they need, and dynamic programs that enrich their academic, social, and emotional experiences. Our jobs as educators do not end there. We are preparing our students for a future that will look much different from the one we knew as children and teenagers and different from our present world. The only way that we can be successful in this calling is to be responsive to the community, higher education, industry and economy, and culture. All children deserve the best educational opportunities that we can provide because education is the one factor that influences how our children will live their lives as adults in their communities.
This is a most unprecedented time in public education. No one could have ever imagined that a pandemic would have closed schools and a stay-at-home order would have damaged the economy. From day one of my appointment and tenure, I have been working with the Lewisburg Area School District team on a plan for reopening schools that adheres to the guidance and protocols for health and safety. We will be providing the parents, students, and community with more information in the coming weeks.
I am joining the Lewisburg Area School District team from Southeastern Pennsylvania. I began my career as a high school English teacher and moved into various roles in administration. I attended La Salle University for my undergraduate degree and the University of Pennsylvania, Delaware Valley University, and Lehigh University for my graduate degrees. After sixteen years of higher education and twenty-six years in the profession, I can state with certainty that learning is an on-going and lifelong process. As a mother of a college sophomore and recent college graduate, I have the perspective as a parent as well as the responsibility of caring for each of your children as one of my own.
Please visit this page again at the end of the summer for additional updates about the beginning of the 2020-21 school year and our goals for the year.
All the best from the newest Green Dragon,
Jennifer A. Polinchock, Ed.D.
