Superintendent

The onset of spring is top of mind for all of us! There is always a welcome sense of optimism and a refreshed level of energy across the district as the weather warms and sunshine carries through our days.

March is also a busy time in our schools. We are working through our third marking period in our classrooms. We transition to spring sports and outdoor activities. We enjoy our annual HS musical and prepare for spring concerts and we celebrate our musicians and vocalists who distinguish themselves with district, regional, and state level accomplishments. I encourage everyone to continue to check our school calendars, athletic calendar, and the district calendar to stay apprised of all our events. We welcome our community to attend and enjoy our events and activities.

It is also at this time of the year to be engaged in planning for the coming 2025-2026 school year. We work earnestly towards preparing our operating budget, we review staffing and program needs, and we revise curriculum as well as create new courses and learning approaches and activities across K-12. While many aspects of school tie over from one year to the next, there is always the need to be revising and refining our operations. Even within one school system, such as LASD, there are many moving parts. We review systems within our system as we look at things like facilities, finances, safety, programming, technology, transportation, student support services, and food service in order to assure quality and our ‘best’ work in support of teaching and learning.

Current challenges confront us in our work. Needs and wants compete for our budgetary dollars. Guidance and regulations from federal and state levels compel, but also require clarity and the practicality in our local control for implementation. Our vision and mission statements call upon us to put our energies, resources, and passions toward assuring all students will Belong, Explore, and Learn.  With ‘spring’ optimism in mind, we remain focused in our daily work and planning.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Cathy S. Moser
